The Gardens at Cherokee, Assisted Living Facilty to Open in Summer 2008

Cherokee, IA – Vintage Living of Cedar Rapids announces that the construction process is underway at The Gardens at Cherokee at 1610 Highway 3, in Cherokee. The Gardens is the second assisted living community developed and owned by Vintage Living. The Gardens is located on the north side of town, east of Highway 59, off Highway 3. This location offers great view’s of the valley east of Cherokee. The Gardens is expected to complete construction and open summer of 2008.


The Gardens is an assisted living community designed to meet the needs of individuals who require some supervision and/or assistance with activities of daily living, but are able and prefer to live independently. The Gardens offers a unique combination of housing, support services, personal assistance and healthcare delivered in a residential environment.


The Gardens will offer 38 apartments all located in a single level building, featuring quality architectural and interior designs. The Gardens offers spacious studio, one bedroom and two bedroom apartments. The Gardens will offer meals, housekeeping and laundry services, a beauty and barber shop on site, a community kitchen for people who want to cook and participate in cooking activities, and a variety of family rooms; reading & media lounge, a recreation room, a fitness room and a chapel. A special feature of the retirement community is the gardens in the central courtyard, including flower beds, herb gardens and vegetables. There will be areas where residents may plant their own garden items.


The Gardens will have staff available around the clock to provide residents with comfort and leisure, across a full range of needs. Among the staff positions are the building director and a fulltime activities coordinator.


A groundbreaking ceremony for "The Gardens" was held October 17th, 2007 at noon. The groundbreaking ceremony included local leaders and partners in the project. Also attending were the owner & managing member of Vintage Living, Jim Angstman and local lending partners from Cherokee State Bank.
