Harvest International Sends Out First Auger

09/17/2007

The first auger to leave a new manufacturing plant in Cherokee, Iowa, Harvest International, was picked up on Thursday for use at a Cherokee company, American Ntural Soy.  Mark Buschkamp, executive director of the Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation, was on hand to congratulate both companies.  Buschkamp and the CAEDC have worked closely with Harvest International and American Natural Soy on several projects, individually.  The opportunity to facilitate a partnership between the two companies was the result of networking with these companies.

Harvest International, Inc. produces high capacity grain augers.  Jeff Sivinski, co-owner and general manager of Harvest International and Byron Friesen, co-owner and operations manager of HI, were pleased that the first customer to receive an auger is a Cherokee company.  "We use local businesses as much as posssible.  It's good that a local company is using our product," Sivinski said.
