"Harvest International: Moving the Nation's Grain."
Grain producers have the potential to move their crop thanks to a new company in the agricultural industry. HARVEST INTERNATIONAL INC manufactures high capacity grain augers in 10" and 13" models in lengths up to 82 feet. HARVEST INTERNATIONAL'S 40,000 square foot state-of-the-art manufacturing plant is located in the heart of America's cornbelt: Cherokee, Iowa. Every HARVEST INTERNATIONAL auger is the result of precision engineering, quality laser-cut parts, and durable Powder Coat Plus(TM) finishes. Founders Byron Friesen and Jeff Sivinski state, "The goal is to produce a product that is superior to any other auger on the market today. We offer engineered reliablility that means years of service to our customers." The Friesen Family has been manufacturing quality agricultural implements since 1963, and with a history of excellent customer service and fair pricing, HARVEST INTERNATIONAL is sure to be a success.
The "landing" of Harvest International is the culmination of over six months of negotiations and discussions with the company, the Cherokee Industrial Corporation and Cherokee Area Economic Development and the owner of the former OBECO building on Riverview Drive. Harvest Internationals interest in Cherokee as a location began with the availability of an existing manufacturing facility that was vacant. The opportunity to move in without having to wait for construction of a facility meant they could be up and running sooner and could focus their efforts on production of a high quality product and not be distracted by details of constructing a new facility. Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation (CAEDC) assisted in the negotiations between the building owner and Harvest International. In addition CAEDC worked with the State Department of Economic Development and the Cherokee County Enterprise Zone Commission to obtain funding for the project. The Cherokee Industrial Corporation played a major role by supplying Harvest International with a forgivable loan tied to job creation. This came at a critical time when negotiations between HI and the building owner were at a standstill. This provided the final draw to bring Harvest International to Cherokee. Harvest International is now installing equipment, hiring workers and gearing up production to produce portable grain augers.
