JOHNSTON, IA – Companies and individuals will have the opportunity to be part of Iowa’s biofuels revolution at the fourth annual Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit on January 25, 2010. The event is hosted by the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association and will take place at the Polk County Convention Complex from 8:30 am to 4 pm.

The summit is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required, which can be done at www.IowaRFA.org. Anyone with questions can contact Lucy Norton at the IRFA office at (515) 252-6249. Last year’s summit drew over 800 people, and more are expected this year to hear about the role biofuels will play in meeting future transportation needs and energy independence.

“Whether a biofuels investor or just interested in the renewable fuels industry, the Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit will put the hot topics front and center,” said IRFA Managing Director Lucy Norton. “There are decisions being made in Des Moines and DC now that will shape the renewable fuels industry for years to come. This conference is our way of keeping everyone up-to-date on these issues – whether E15, alternative biofuels feedstocks or federal policies that will influence future demand.”

Attendees will hear from industry leaders about challenges and opportunities facing biofuels. Topics for this year’s summit include: “Biofuels: Charting a New Course for Energy Independence,” “Life After RFS,” “Beating the Blend Wall,” and “Unlimited Future for Biofuels.”

Iowa is the leader in renewable fuels production. Iowa has 39 ethanol refineries capable of producing nearly 3.3 billion gallons annually. In addition, Iowa has 15 biodiesel facilities with the capacity to produce over 322 million gallons annually.

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
