On Thursday, 08/07/08 the City of Sheldon will be holding a Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for their new $3 million Outdoor Family Aquatic Center located at 415 19th Avenue in Sheldon, Iowa. An Open House will be held from 9:30am-11:00am with a short ceremony and ribbon cutting at 10:00am.

This is significant for the City of Sheldon. The community formed a Recreation Research Committee to determine the recreational needs of the community. This is one of the first major accomplishments that has been completed as part of their studies. The City has also partnered with the new Holiday Day Inn Express for an Indoor Pool facility that is available for use to the public and includes a 4-lane lap pool, 15-person hot tub and zero-depth entry recreational pool. This facility has now been completed and will conduct a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 15, 2008. The City has also recently partnered with Northwest Iowa Community College for the construction of an approximate $5 million Lifelong Learning and Recreation Center to be completed by fall of 2009. These are the three major items to come out of the study and research of the committee.
